Obscure and unique windmills
As long as I can remember I’ve always had an interest in antique machinery which was powered by natural sources, especially windmills whose rusty skeletons still dotted the rural landscape of Southern York Co. Their large bold shapes hanging on delicate angle iron are so similar to Calder mobiles, waiting to be moved by a breath of wind only these mobiles were used to preform work. When i was a teenager i started salvaging these machines and my collection started. This website is about the most obscure and unique wind engines in my collection: a 12 ft diameter Aermotor power mill (circa 1900), a 16ft diameter Aermotor power mill (circa 1888), and a reconstruction of a very early horizontal wind turbine using patent drawings from the early to mid 19th century.
